Job Summary:
 
This position will review conflict reports to identify potential conflicts of interest associated with intake of new business and will report those results to section manager and attorneys as appropriate. 

Responsibilities:
 
  • Review and analyze new business conflict reports, confer with Business Intake Manager to determine the nature of any potential conflicts.
 
  • Coordinate with Business Intake Manager, Loss Prevention Counsel, and Firm Management as necessary during the conflict resolution process for appropriate approvals and decisions.
 
  • Understand legal and business conflicts, related ethical rules and current developments to properly analyze and evaluate the conflict reports.
 
  • Conduct data analysis and research using various databases.
 
  • Document process, maintain records of conflicts related information from the conflicts reporting analysis, follow-up responses and other relevant data from conversations with attorneys.
 
  • Communicate with attorneys by presenting brief, clear statements of potential conflict situations recognized in the conflicts reports; capture institutional knowledge discovered during the process. 

Supervision Received and/or Given:

            Works under general supervision from the Business Intake and Conflicts Manager receiving both oral and written instructions.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

 
  • Juris Doctor degree required. 
 
  • Interest in an alternative legal career. 
 
  • 3+ years law firm conflict clearing experience preferred.
 
  • Firm understanding of the conflict clearing procedure with a loss prevention mind-set.
 
  • Experience using Elite conflict database or similar software.
 
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Professional Responsibility as they relate to specific jurisdictions.
 
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, as well as with a team.
 
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
 
  • High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
 
  • Ability to work, communicate, and establish credibility effectively with attorneys and firm personnel at all levels required.   


Working Conditions: 
 
This position requires sitting for long periods of time while operating a computer.  At times, employees are required to work in excess of the normal work schedule.  Employees in this position must be mobile, have the ability to bend, and have ability to lift and carry files weighing approximately 10-15 lbs.
